API 5L X60 steel pipe

Grade X60 indicates 60000 PSI minimum yield strength and 75000 PSI minimum ultimate tensile strength.

API 5L X60 PSL 1 grade designations come from API Spec 5L Specification for Line Pipe.

Stronger grades have the designation X followed by the specified minimum yield strength of the pipe steel, measured in kilopounds per square inch (abbreviated ksi). Standard Line Pipe has grade designation A and B.

API Standard Specification for Line Pipe
The American Petroleum Institute specification API 5L addresses seamless and welded steel line pipe for pipeline transportation systems in the petroleum and natural gas industries. API 5L is suitable for conveying gas, water, and oil.

Specifications for API 5L adhere to the International Organization for Standardization ISO 3183, standardizing pipeline transportation systems within the materials, equipment and offshore structures for natural gas, petroleum, and petrochemical industries. When authoring the standards, the technical committee recognized that there are two basic Product Specifications Levels (PSL) of technical requirements and therefore developed PSL 1 and PSL 2. PSL 1 is a standard quality for line pipe where PSL 2 contains additional chemical, mechanical properties, and testing requirements.


Range I: 4,00-12,00 meters (13,1-40,0 ft)

Fixed lengths within the manufacture lengths range. Tolerances: ± 100 mm (± 3,94 ft)


Unprotected or external oiled/external varnished

Each pipe is provided with plastic protectors at both ends


Die stamping or/and paint stenciled according to standard or per customer request

Technical details can be also marked on tags attached to each bundle.


In bundles of maximum 2500 Kg, tied in minimum four places with steel strips.


Mill test reports are issued to customer requirements.

Usually they comply with EN 10204 - 3.1.B (DIN 50049 - 3.1.B)
